Adventure Days

September 22-25, 2022

Already in 2009, we arranged Adventure Days together with BMW Motorrad for the very first time. Since then, it has become an annual event where hundreds of adventure motorcyclists gather and explore wonderful gravel roads together. No matter what kind of motorcycle* you ride, you are welcome to Adventure Days, but it should be offroad/adventure model and you should not be afraid to get it dusty or dirty. Whatever your skills of gravel riding do not matter, we have everything from easy, relaxed tours to technical more demanding  faster tours. Adventure Days are for everyone! We stay in cozy log cabins at Säfsen Resort and eat delicious food throughout the event.

*The event is open to all types of motorcycles, with the exception for lightweight motorcycles designed for sports enduro, such as KTM EXC, Yamaha WR, Honda CR, Husaberg TE and other.

Guided gravel tours

When booking Adventure Days, please specify if you wish to ride BASIC or ADVANCED:

BASIC is suitable for you who are new to gravel, want a slightly softer increase in difficulty level or simply just want to take it a bit easier. We ride slightly better gravel roads and avoid mud, tracks and rocks as far as possible. We also ride some exciting roads in BASIC, but we save them until a bit later when we learned the skills and got used to the roads in Säfsen. The BASIC tours can be ridden with asphalt tires, but gravel tires are always recommended. If you are an experienced rider, you can also take a passenger on these tours.

ADVANCED is suitable for you who have experience of gravel riding. Here we ride a bit more technical roads from the start and can experience some mud, ruts and stones. We ride some old railway banks, forest roads and the like – in short, as exciting as possible, but still legal. We start a little easier and increase the degree of difficulty through the event. Gravel tires are a requirement and on these tours and we ride without passengers.

  • If you are unsure of your degree of difficulty – choose what you think will be right – should it then turn out to be wrong, just talk to your tour guide or someone in our team and we will help you change groups any time during the event.

GROUPS & START TIMES

When you book, you can also note if you have friends that you want to ride with (keep in mind that you must then have chosen the same level of difficulty). We will inform you before the event which group you will ride in as well as your start times and start point.

TOUR GUIDES & SPLITTING

The basic plan is that you ride with the same tour guide throughout the event. The tour guide then gets to know the group and can givethe riding tips each participant needs to grow. The tour guide can also adjust the routes so it will be a partly customised challenge for you and your group. We start the tour in larger groups and then split it during the first day. This so that you can ride at your own pace without feeling any stress. We try to meet a few times during the day and than you then have the opportunity to change group if you wish.

FEEDBACK DURING THE TOURS

All our tour guides are trained by Ride Nordic to be able to give you tips and advice during the tours. On a few occasions during the tours, we stop and talk about, for example, line of vision, track selection & rider position. This to make you an even better, and above all safer rider during Adventure Days!

  • Remember to never ride above your own ability, you (and no one else!) decides how fast you should ride, not the one behind or in front! We ride with rotation (Corner man) which means that someone always waits and show the direction at the next traffic situation/crossroad etc. Adventure Days is not a competition, it is about adventure riding. On the straight bits, we slow down to gather the groups.

GS Experience

During Adventure Days you have a unique opportunity to get to know BMW’s latest GS models and to test them in a way like never before! GS Experience begin with a theoretical part where BMW Motorrad’s technicians explain new features & technical aids. Then our instructors take you for a test ride on roads of the varying quality, trough water & mud and over logs & stones so you can test the motorcycles properly!

  • In connection with GS Experience, we also ride an extra exciting gravel tour that passes some of Säfsen’s hidden gems. We may also have added some problems you may encounter during the adventure trip and our instructors will give you tips on how to solve them (this part you ride on your own motorcycle).

This experience is half a day long and is included for all participants.

PRE Adventure Days rider training

During Thursday morning (08.00-12.00) we arrange an intensive gravel rider training in Säfsen. Ride Nordic’s instructors go through the basics of gravel riding and teach you as much as possible this morning before the start of Adventure Days.

The training is suitable for you who are new to gravel or have not ridden in a while. The training is done on your own motorcycle and in small groups (max. 8 per instructor). You will during the training, among other things, learn:

  • Setting up your own motorcycle and rider position on gravel
  • Throttle & clutch control on gravel
  • Steering & cornering on gravel
  • Braking on gravel

This training is optional and extra cost is added (price is stated in the booking). Please note that we only have a limited number of places on this training!

FAQ, facts & statistics

Here you get answers of the most common questions about Adventure Days. You will also find some facts and statistics that we collected since the start of the event in 2009. If you have more questions, do not hesitate to contact us!

_SMH4238

You must not have been riding on gravel at all! We have tours in all levels of difficulty and Adventure Days is adapted for everyone, from beginners to advanced riders. Below are some statistics:

  • About 20% of the participants have “little or no” gravel experience
  • Approximately 30% of participants are “active and experienced” gravel riders
  • About 50% have been “riding  some gravel but not so actively”
adv_days_lör-4317

Absolutely not! About 40% of the participants at the Adventure Days ride BMW, the rest ride KTM, Honda, Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati, Suzuki, Kawasaki etc.

_SMH1538

Adventure Days is open to all motorcycles, regardless of brand and model, with the exception of light bikes made for sports enduro, as for example KTM EXC, Yamaha WR, Honda CR, Husaberg TE, and equivalent. The best-suited bikes, on the other hand, are BMW GS, KTM Adventure, Yamaha Ténéré, Triumph Tiger, Honda Africa Twin, and similar. It is for these type of motorcycles that the tours are customized.

_SMH1447

Absolutely! About half of the participants at Adventure Days book and go there on their own. So even if you don’t have someone to ride gravel with or if your friends can’t go you are warmly welcome! You will get lots of new riding buddies on site.

_SMH2385

Gravel tires are always recommended. We prefer Continental TKC 80, Metzeler Karoo 4, Michelin Anakee Wild, Pirelli Scorpion Rally and the like. The easier tours can be ridden on asphalt tires, but if it rains, it will be quite slippery.

_SMH0960

Unfortunately not. However, we will help you repair the tires if you run a flat.

_SMH2416

Approximately 1-2 weeks before the event you get the information about where and when your tours start each day.

Planritning 4-bädd stuga

In the booking there is a box for this particular request. Enter the name and city of the persons you want to share with and we will put you in the same cabins. If you are more than what can fit in a cabin, we put you in cabins next to each other.

IMG_7465

The Answer is yes! In the booking, this is available as an option and there is also the price. The price includes accommodation between Wednesday and Thursday, in the same cabin that you stay in during the continued event, as well as dinner Wednesday evening and breakfast Thursday morning.
